XRM/XRS • Healthconnectors

CO2 (and humidity) regulated valves available in duct size Ø125, Ø200 and Ø250

Application

  • Master valve XRM: decentralized autonomous regulating valve for (polluted) air extraction in centralized ventilation systems.

    • Autonomous precise regulation valve with integrated CO2 probe and dynamic H2O probe for measurements in the air flow.
    • Demand-driven precise regulating valve: automatic positioning of the valve blade based on the measured CO2 and/or relative H2O concentration.
    • Plug & Play principle: regulating valve to be integrated directly in a spiral duct network.
    • Adjustable CO2 level and automatic dynamic humidity regulation.
    • A direct sound attenuation is foreseen for the regulating valve for Ø125 (optionally for Ø200 and Ø250).
    • The good functioning of the precise regulating valve is only guaranteed if the air supply is equipped with self-regulating ventilation grilles and if the ventilator pressure is set at max. 200Pa.
    • Connection of the optional 4 positions switch possible.
    • Connection of up to 6 slave valves possible.
    • 0-10V control for connection of driven air supply valves.

  • Slave valve XRS : The purpose is to guarantee a higher air exhaust flow rate in a single location by a parallel functioning with the master valves XRM.

    • The slave valve is a compliant valve without integrated probes.
    • The positioning of the blade of the slave is controlled by the master valve. The total air exhaust flow rate in the location is consequently the total of the number of master/slave health connectors connected in the same location.
    • Max. 6 slave valves XRS can be connected to 1 master valve XRM.

  • Optional 4 positions switch (cabled)

    • Eco-position : ventilation with a minimal energy loss.
    • Health Care position : ventilation according to the obtained ppm values and air humidity rate.
    • Manual decrease of the ventilation level.
    • Manual increase of the ventilation level.
    • A switch is needed for setting (start-up) of the XRM valves. If several valves are needed to be set with a single switch, the valves have to be set 1 by 1.

Material

  • The valve parts are made of ABS
  • Shutter lid is made of polypropylene
  • Connection flare is made of galvanized steel

Executions

  • Type XRM = Master valve: CO2 and relative H2O detection + connection possibility of 4-position switch
  • Type XRS = Slave valve: actuated by master valve, no detection

Electrical connection

  • For XRM Ø125: 12V DC Transformer needed with I > 0.5A per XRM. When connecting 1 to 7 slaves on a master XRM, a transfo of I > 1A should be used. The maximum current from the incomming current towards the outgoing curren is max 1.25A (peak current can be higher). Therefore max 2 master (3 masters per string) or up to 7 slave valves (7+1 per string) can be connected on the first masterer. When star connection on the transfo is established, as much masters (slaves) can be used as the transfo can handle.
  • For XRM Ø200 and XRM Ø250: 24V DC Transformer needed with I > 0.5A per XRM. When connecting 1 to 4 slaves on a master XRM, a transfo of I > 1A should be used. When connecting 5 to 7 slaves on a master XRM, a transfo of I > 1.5A should be used.The maximum current from the incomming current towards the outgoing curren is max 1.25A (peak current can be higher). Therefore max 2 master (3 masters per string) or up to 7 slave valves (7+1 per string) can be connected on the first masterer. When star connection on the transfo is established, as much masters (slaves) can be used as the transfo can handle.

Installation

  • If several Health connectors are connected to a central ventilator, the resistance in the exhaust duct has to be kept at its minimum.
  • If several extraction points are connected with the Health connector: provide adjustable extraction grilles for further precise regulation for each extraction point.
  • Distance to the exhaust grille: the minimal distance to the first (adjustable) extraction grille has to be 1 meter.
  • The Health connector has to be installed within the insulated volume of the non-residential building (cfr prevention of condensation).

Air flow settings

  • Maximum exhaust flow rate per valve:
Ø 125: 125m³/h for a maximum speed of 2,8 m/s
Ø 200: 400m³/h for a maximum speed of 3,5 m/s
Ø 250: 600m³/h for a maximum speed of 3,5 m/s
  • On the basis of the set CO2 ppm level and the obtained measurement, the precise regulating valve will gradually and autonomously position the valve blade (maximum to the nominal air flow rate). (If a defined increase of the humidity percentage is perceived for valve Ø125, the valve blade will return to its nominal position)
  • The max. desired CO2 limitation in the location can be set for the valve by means of dip switches:
600 ± 50 ppm CO2 (most severe CO2 regulation)
800 ± 50 ppm CO2
900 ± 50 ppm CO2
1000 ± 50 ppm CO2
1100 ± 50 ppm CO2
1200 ± 50 ppm CO2
1400 ± 100 ppm CO2
1600 ± 100 ppm CO2 (less severe CO2 regulation)
  • Possibility to adjust the (maximum) flow rate by means of the 4 positions switch.

  • The XRM valves are CO2 and humidity dynamic valves for regulation of the air extraction flow rates in HVAC systems. The valves are autonomous, plug and play and equipped with an adjustable regulating organ. They can be set manually on the desired CO2 ppm level. Several valves can be connected thanks to the master-slave principle.
